One of the most popular wheels in our Rally Series lineup is the 502 Rally and the 502 VT-Spec. Both wheels feature a unique 10 windowed design with debossed Method logo. They are both made from solid A356 aluminum and constructed using a T6 heat treatment construction. That’s where the similarities end, but both are the perfect addition to your rally car.
The 502 Rally was over engineered to exceed SAE 2530 specifications, a strong 1850 lbs load rating and a bolt-on center cap with an embossed Method logo. Many Subaru STI owners will be excited to learn that the 502 Rally wheels will clear the Brembo brakes that came from the factory. The 502 Rally wheel has finishes in matte black, bronze, titanium and gold.
The VT-Spec was developed for the Factory Subaru Rally Team that’s overseen by Vermont Sports car. Think of it as the 15 in. version of the Rally wheel. The VT-SPEC was the follow up to the Method Race Wheel 501 VT-Spec wheel that was developed for Subaru's Group-N/Super Production (SP) class which had production based engines and suspension geometry. In 2014 Vermont Sports Car/ Subaru Rally Team entered the open class which allowed them to alter and optimize suspension geometry and engine power outside what is allowed in Group N/ Super Production. As a result the cars needed different offsets to align with the suspension changes and a higher load rating to cope with the cars' increased speeds on stages. Some other key differences are the stainless steel lug hold inserts for increased durability in race environments. The VT-Spec also has a higher load rating of 2100 lbs. Unlike the Rally wheels, the VT-Spec will not clear OEM Subaru STI brakes, but will clear Subaru WRX 4-pot brakes up to 2014, AP Racing CP6720 calipers and most brake packages with rotors up to 300mm in diameter.
